Calling all Bargain hunters (‘Chineurs’) and Christmas Shoppers who have run out of ideas!
Think about visiting one or more of the three big annual pre-Christmas fairs near the Haras to pick up something unusual as a gift, collect some out of the ordinary Christmas decorations or just to treat yourself:
- Les Puces Caennaises at the Caen Parc des Expositions. Friday 22nd November to Sunday 24th November 2013. 10am – 7pm
- La Brocante Vide Greniers Centre-Ville at Lisieux Place de la République, Sunday 24th November 2013 5am – 6pm
- Le Marché de Noel at Falaise town centre Sunday 8th December 2013
Famous for being the biggest Flea market in the region and 2013, Les Puces Caennaises will have been an institution in Normandy for 32 years in 2013.
Around 200 stands fill 2 halls of the Caen Exhibition centre where you can buy a bit of everything ‘On y trouve un peu de tout et surtout’ but with one point in common – something that is unusual and is a reminder of times gone by: antique furniture, decorative objects from the 30’s to the 60’s, posters, post cards , old books, jewellery, clothes, lights paintings and even antiquitiés anglaises (English antiques!)
All the exhibiters are professional antique dealers and many have come a long way to present their merchandise at this show which is popular with professional dealers and enthusiastic amateurs alike.
You might also like to drive over to Lisieux (63km, 39 miles, 42 minutes) which has its annual enormous ( 850 stands in 2012) pre-Christmas open-air Fair: La Brocante Vide Greniers Centre-Ville on Sunday 24th November or even stay on for the Le Marché de Noel at Falaise town centre ( only 12km, 7 miles from the Haras ) on Sunday 8th December 2013
